She Cried Through Our Entire First Meeting
She cried through our entire first meeting. Every minute of it.
I'm not going to use her name here, and you won't see her face anywhere. She's not ready for that, and she doesn't owe it to anybody.
But I asked if I could tell you what she's done, because I think there's a woman reading this who needs to hear it.

She came to me carrying more than weight
She'd lost her mom.
And her body had stopped feeling like hers somewhere in all of it. She'd stopped recognizing the woman in her own photos.
If you've been through grief, you already know what I mean. It takes your appetite or it takes your kitchen. It takes your sleep. And it takes the version of you that used to have energy left over for herself at the end of the day.
Then you look up two years later in a body you don't recognize, and on top of the grief there's this whole second layer of shame about how you let it happen.
You didn't let it happen. You survived something.
What she actually needed first
It wasn't a meal plan.
She needed permission to start from exactly where she was. In a body that had been through a hard few years. Without one single person making her feel behind.
So that's where we started. Not where she used to be. Not where she thought she should be. Where she actually was, on that day, in that body.
That's the part most programs get wrong. They hand you the plan for the woman you were at 32 and then act confused when you can't execute it.
Then she did the work
And I mean every bit of it.
When I gave her something hard, she did it anyway, in a body that was deconditioned and made her fight for every single rep. There were workouts that took everything she had.
She never once asked me to make it easier.
She just kept showing up. Week after week. Through the days it felt pointless and through the weeks nothing moved on the scale.

Four months later
Down 22 pounds.
Down 30.4 inches, with four and a half of those off her waist alone.
And she is not finished, and she knows it, and here's the part I love most... she's not in a hurry anymore either. That's what happens when a woman finally has a plan that works. The panic goes away. She just keeps going.
The thing I actually want you to take from this
If you're carrying something heavy right now, and some part of you has decided you have to be okay first before you can start taking care of yourself...
You don't.
She wasn't okay. She started anyway. And starting is what made her okay-er.
You are allowed to begin in the middle of a hard season. You're allowed to begin tired. You're allowed to begin grieving, or angry, or in a body you don't like very much right now.
The starting is the thing. Everything else follows it.
Sweater Weather Shred starts October 5th.
Eight weeks. Real food, strength workouts built for a body over 40, and me actually checking on you... not a program you buy and then find again in March.
It's $149 right now. That goes to $197 on Wednesday, October 1st.
If you've been waiting to feel ready, this is your reminder that ready isn't coming. Start where you are.
Healthy looks good on everyone.
